We are seeking a senior Control Systems Engineer with experience in SCADA, HMI, and PLC design to join our team based in the GEA Pharma Systems Eastleigh office. The engineer will work within the team to deliver control systems supporting the GEA Projects group and provide global support to other GEA Pharma Systems companies as required. The role involves working in an ISO 9001 quality environment and adhering to industry standards for documentation and quality.
The ideal candidate will have or will develop an understanding of:
- Preparation and review of SCADA and HMI system documentation, design, build, and testing to standard
- Planning and organizing SCADA and HMI development
- Producing SCADA and HMI control designs and documentation within budget
- Knowledge of software scripting (e.g., C Script, VBA, C#)
- Knowledge of virtualization environments (ESXi, Hyper-V)
- Understanding network architectures
- Providing technical support for SCADA and HMI projects
- Ownership and development of SCADA and HMI standards
- Experience with OPC UA/DA protocols
The successful candidate will have a proven background in control system software design, with experience or knowledge in the following areas being advantageous:
- GE iFix SCADA development (other SCADA systems are a plus)
- VBA scripting
- Microsoft SQL
- Siemens Step 7 and/or TIA Portal for PLC programming
- Siemens WinCC flexible or TIA Portal for HMI development
- Rockwell PLC and HMI development
Ideally, the applicant should possess:
- Five or more years of relevant software design experience
- Strong motivation, excellent communication and organizational skills
- A creative approach to problem-solving and ability to work under pressure
- Experience in commissioning and troubleshooting industrial equipment
- Experience delivering automation projects across their lifecycle
