Job Summary: Under minimal supervision, this role is responsible for the development, designing, and delivering the training/curriculum for the electronic health record. Consults with operational leaders/staff, analysts and other training professionals on caregiver/financial staff training needs. The Instructional Designer supports the training environments, curriculums and e-learning for system applications for new hire and end user training. The Instructional designer monitors training program effectiveness. Supervises and assigns personnel to the various training tasks and guides their activities. Reviews and evaluates work and prepares performance reports.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for maintaining the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of electronic protected health information and systems and processes that store or handle electronic protected health information.
  • Responsible for reporting any security incident you become aware of to the Information Security Manager.
  • Responsible for using elevated system privileges only when necessary and not using elevated system privileges for day-to-day and routine activities.

Education Program Development:

  • Designs and develops course curricula based upon workflow analysis, a thorough understanding of the application and how these two factors interface.
  • Reviews and revises curricula to meet the training needs of employees based upon feedback, needs assessments or updated versions of the application.
  • Uses job-specific materials and references to make information relevant to participants.
  • Creates curriculum for both instructor led and web-based learning using tools such as Adobe Creative Suites & Captivate.
  • Develops user manuals, job aids and step-by-step instruction.
  • Helps convey the clinical workflow decisions, as well as how the application functions, to the end-user community throughout the training process.
  • Analyzes content, target audience, job tasks, and learner environment to identify appropriate instructional strategies and define learning objectives.
  • Creates computer-based training content that effectively targets the specific needs of the users and applications in question.
  • Organizes course content to produce curriculum that meets learning needs of the business.
  • Develops and manages timelines and milestones.

Collaboration:

  • Communicates the creation and location of the site to end-users. Updates site content and course materials so that users training materials are relevant and accurate.
  • Acts as liaison with clients, taking time to understand their needs and developing the client relationship through effective communication and personal skills.
  • Collaborates with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to develop and modify instructional material.
  • Incorporates feedback from peers, supervisors, and manager to help improve design process.
  • Provides guidance and specialized instructional design knowledge to other members of the Instructional Design team.

Education Program Delivery:

  • Adequately prepares to deliver the training curriculum. Prepares all training materials ready for class. Improvises alternate presentation methods when tools malfunction.
  • Conducts training sessions.
  • Develops and delivers specific application training curriculums and educational materials to ensure successful end user training.
  • Co-facilitates with content matter instructors to ensure learning and a cohesive program.
  • Works with MC Strategies, or other Learning management System as required, for mandatory computer-based training.

Education: Bachelor's Degree required.

Work Experience: 4-6 years of adult education, corporate training, or K-12 through post-secondary teaching experience required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of Web-based e-learning and other new media applications, instructional design models and design aesthetics with an ability to design print materials that appeal to a variety of learning styles. Ability to use audiovisual equipment and apply the use of multi-media into presentations. Ability to navigate on Intranets and Internets including performing searches and research. Experience with Adobe Acrobat, Creative Suites and Captivate preferred. Experience using graphic editors such as Adobe Photoshop, SnagIt or Paint.NET preferred. Proficient in the use of MS Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint) required. Experience with Microsoft SharePoint preferred. Excellent oral and written communications skills.

Salary: $76,000.00 - $117,800.00 / yr
