A growth opportunity has arisen to join a recognised speciality legal risk underwriter. The existing team is looking to appoint an experienced solicitor with commercial litigation expertise to join as a key team member. Established interest in litigation and legal risks insurance and funding is essential. This would suit a progressive individual who enjoys client facing work with analytical skills to review a wide range of commercial litigation and legal risks.
Responsibilities:
- Develop a robust network of professionals in law firms and corporates, intermediaries, and funders, and capital providers.
- Able to participate and/or lead in the risk assessment and underwriting of commercial litigation and known contentious risks.
- Develop an understanding of bespoke insurance products related to legal risks including ATE risks, funder indemnity risks, defence side contingent risks, judgement preservation / appeal risks, among others.
- General technical underwriter duties, including screening and underwriting of risks, prep of (non-binding indications) NBIs and referrals.
- Meeting, developing and maintaining of relationships with clients, brokers and related business partners.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience practicing as an associate solicitor with a recognised law firm and ideally experience.
- Comfortable in presenting to develop product awareness/understanding for target clients.
- Developing, implementing, placing, and negotiating of litigation focused contingent liability products to commercial litigants, law firms or other prospective purchasers.
