The Opportunity

We are looking for a Project Manager to be part of our Point of Connections team. This person will be responsible for the assessment of the technical aspects of new POC requests and overseeing the safe, compliant installation of electrical and water infrastructure with a focus on quality of installation and compliance with approved design parameters and current legislation and CoP. The PM will in all cases look to provide a single point of contact on behalf of Leep for post acceptance and pre-adoption activities to Leep’s contract customers and stakeholders. The PM is responsible and accountable for all aspects relating to SHE, CDM, Programme Integrity & Financial Control, Sub-contractor Management and Asset compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • To work with the PoC team to deliver all new accepted Points of Connections within the GS timeframes and internal KPI’s.
  • Build relationships with contractors, DNO’s, Incumbents, ICP’s, SLP’s and internal stakeholders to deliver PoC works in a straightforward and efficient manner.
  • To fully understand the project requirements and ensure the infrastructure is installed to specification and to an adoptable quality.
  • Provide support to the PoC team and PoC Manager in any third-party connection related matters.
  • Ensure regular progress reports are obtained for each project and that regular reports are submitted to the PoC Manager and that all progress trackers are updated as required.
  • Be responsible for archiving the project information in the designated areas of internal project directories and/or management platforms or systems.
  • Ensure ICP/SLP designs obtain full design approval by one of our appointed design consultants.
  • Working to deliver every PoC project within the accepted quotations to achieve project budgets and balancing any additional on costs upon completion with the client and POC Estimators.
  • Ensuring that all business processes are followed.
  • Also ensuring that any contractor activities are complied with in respect to SHE, Contractor Management, Operational compliance etc.
  • Ensuring activities and assets are compliant with all relevant legislation and approved design.
  • Working with the Operations department to ensure that new assets are handed over with all relevant records and handover documentation in place and issued to the Operations team.
  • Work with the relevant Operations Management to ensure a suitable COMER contract is in place for each operational site.
  • Ensure that the standards of installation, pre-energisation checks, and sign offs meet and/or exceed requirements.
  • Conduct effective project handovers and manage project snagging to satisfactory completion standards.
  • Provide support to Project Delivery, Strategic Project Delivery and wider Operations Team as required.
  • Any other reasonable task requested by the Line Manager to support the team and business priorities at the time.

About You

  • Experience of working in either a Project, Construction Management or Operational role within the Utility Sector.
  • Knowledge around delivering schemes and/or working with a DNO/IDNO/Incumbent Water Companies.
  • Previous/Current Appointed Person Status for Low Voltage and/or High Voltage.
  • Proven track record of the management of utility contractors.
  • Attainment of a SHE management qualification and experience in undertaking SHE audits.
  • Understanding of regulatory standards applicable to the business and the processes required to be compliant with them.
  • A sound understanding of fiscal project controls, forecasting and commercial contract management.
  • Microsoft literate and overall good computer and reporting skills.
  • Adaptability and an eagerness to learn.
  • The ability to be flexible in terms of time, location, and activity.
  • Ability to foresee problems and identify possible solutions or step in to ensure the problem is eradicated at the earliest opportunity.
  • Ability to assist with the estimation and quoting of PoC’s providing technical consultation where required.
