Provides clinical assistance and support to the Radiology (X-ray/US/CT/MR/NM/IR) department by performing a variety of clinical and clerical support functions under the direct supervision of the Licensed Radiology Professional.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma, or GED equivalent.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
- Actively enrolled as a student in an accredited Radiologic Technology program in preparation of registry (ARRT/ARDMS).
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for ensuring imaging orders are correct and available for technologist review. (Requires Epic access)
- Reviews scheduled procedures to ensure pre-procedure labs are ordered prior to scheduled exam. (Requires Epic access)
- Answers all calls promptly and courteously, taking accurate messages and delivering them in a timely manner.
- Transcribes, schedules, and reschedules patient examinations, documenting appropriately all necessary information and providing prep information.
- Schedules other exams pre-procedure provider protocol. (Requires Epic access)
- Assists the imaging technologist and radiologist by contacting referring providers.
- Provides copies of imaging records and uploads images in the PACS system for patients.
- Follows HIPAA rules associated with EMR information.
- Utilizes Hospital (Epic) and Radiology (RIS, PACS) software programs to perform duties and ensures that the data entry is correct.
- Assists patients with forms, access to exam rooms, changing of clothing.
- Transports patients from department to patient pick-up, transport to/from clinical areas to department.
- Cleans and disinfects/prepares and maintains patient examination rooms, holding bays and waiting areas.
- Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of work areas.
- Obtains lab results and checks for allergies and implants prior to patients scheduled examination (requires Epic access).
- Maintains established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance and safety.
- Checks equipment supplies and accessories on a regular basis.
- Required to maintain stock of supplies for department examination rooms.
- Enhances professional growth and development through participation and education programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
- Attends meetings as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
