CRC Evans are looking for an apprentice to join their design engineers in producing accurate 3D CAD models of production/project specific equipment, along with full drawings to BS 8888 and bill of materials (BOM’s).

Hours: Monday to Friday. Shifts to be confirmed. 40 hours a week Duration: 3 years 6 months.

Work: Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you’ll do at work:

  • Support the engineering department in producing accurate 3D CAD models of production/project specific equipment, along with full drawings to BS 8888 and bill of materials (BOM’s).
  • Implement small design changes to improve functionality of the design and subsequently revise CAD models, drawings and BOM’s.
  • Support the workshop team with build/assembly drawings and additional documentation to ensure all equipment is built and commissioned to specification.

The below is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the organisation and the overall business objectives of the organisation.

Role specific responsibilities:

  • Validating CAD models through cross referencing accuracy against completed equipment.
  • Producing bills of materials for project specific equipment.
  • Producing engineering drawings to relevant industry standards (BS 8888).
  • Minor design changes to existing equipment.
  • Producing equipment manuals and additional documentation.
  • Potential for global travel.

You will carry out assigned tasks and duties in a safe manner, in accordance with instructions, and comply with all Health, Safety & Environmental rules, policy, procedures, regulations and codes of practice. You must also co-operate with management and co-workers to help everyone meet their legal obligations. Ensure that you follow any instructions or health, safety & environmental training the Company provides and report any hazards, injuries or ill health that present a serious and imminent risk.

Training:

Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

College or training organisation: BURNLEY COLLEGE

Your training course: Engineering technician (level 3) - Equal to A level

Your training plan: The successful apprentice will be enrolled on the Level 3 Engineering Technician - Product Design and Development. Training to take place at Burnley College.

Requirements:

GCSE in: Maths (grade 4). Let the company know about other relevant qualifications and industry experience you have. They can adjust the apprenticeship to reflect what you already know.

Skills: Creative

Other requirements:

Skills & Knowledge Required: Able to work independently and on own initiative. Good communication skills, able to work with clients and colleagues at all levels and to generate clear and accurate reports detailing actions taken and recommended future actions. Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage own and others' time efficiently. An understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics and electrical systems is desirable.
