Our team brings years of experience providing strategic communications services to the world’s most influential organisations, foundations, and high-net-worth individuals. Thorndon Partners has recently launched an international practice dedicated to supporting clients in the global development, philanthropy and sustainability space. Our work supports initiatives addressing the most critical global issues through high-impact strategic communications services (incl. climate finance, gender equality, human rights, and economic opportunities). Our international portfolio is growing, and our clients need increased digital and content support. Thorndon Partners is looking for a talented individual, passionate about driving conversations on critical issues among online communities, and with experience advising clients on their online presence.
The role requires at least three years of relevant experience in digital communications. While this role has a strong digital focus, we operate as an integrated team. This means the individual will be involved in all aspects of strategic communications, including media relations.
Key responsibilities:- Drive digital strategies, campaigns and materials: Support the strategy and execution of digital campaigns, ensuring impactful delivery across online platforms. This includes the creation of compelling digital content, multimedia assets for clients, as well as communications counsel on crisis and issues management as needed– with the support of senior advisors.
- Drafting of external communication materials: such as client strategies, messaging, and other digital and media collaterals.
- Managing research and monitoring: Inform our communication strategies by driving and supporting the development of deliverables such as perception audits, monitoring tools and processes.
- Manage strategic communications campaigns for Thorndon Partners: Lead the conception and delivery of impactful online campaigns to help grow the firm’s presence.
- Engagement and relationship building: Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including NGOs, government agencies, media, and industry bodies to expand Thorndon Partners' network and influence within the global issues and sustainability sectors.
- Help shape new business development: By supporting with new business proposals, representing Thorndon Partners at events, drafting thought leadership materials including on digital. You need to be willing to travel to represent the firm at critical events.
- Innovation in Communications: Stay informed on industry trends and best practices and stay ahead in a dynamic global and changing environment. You will help ensure that the team, in particular more junior members of the team, are aware and equipped to adopt new practices and respond to trends.
- Lead team culture and development: As part of a new company, take ownership of fostering a collaborative, high-performing, and engaging workplace culture. Identify and lead initiatives in key areas such as training and development, communication tools, employee well-being, and team-building activities.
This role emphasises collaboration with our research and litigation team, particularly in shared areas of interest such as sports and environmental issues. Our aim is to ensure both teams operate synergistically to maximise impact in these fields.
We believe in the value of flexible working arrangements, allowing team members to work remotely and adjust hours as needed. As a start-up agency, we recognise however the importance of in-office collaboration to foster growth and success on this journey and expect reasonable and regular presence in the office (~3 days a week).
3-4 years of experience in strategic and digital communications, ideally within a consultancy, agency or relevant sector. Strong background in digital content, and content campaign execution is a plus. As a newly established agency, ability to work across disciplines, balancing digital expertise with a broader communications skill set, is important.
