Skanska is launching a Civil Engineering Apprenticeship starting September 2025 in Penrith, Cumbria. This program offers a unique opportunity to earn a degree while gaining practical experience on a bridge replacement project supporting the West Coast Mainline over the M6 Motorway.
Key Responsibilities
- Survey the site and set out for construction teams
- Check the quality of construction work
- Produce permits such as permits to excavate or vegetation clearance permits
- Manage daily site activities and attend shift briefings
- Develop understanding of health, safety, and environmental standards in civil engineering
Candidate Requirements
- 3 A-levels at grades A-C, preferably in Maths and a Physical Science, or equivalent Level 3 qualification
- 5 GCSEs at grades 5-9 including Maths, English, and Science
- Enthusiasm for teamwork and learning
Qualifications and Training
You will study towards a Degree in Civil Engineering at a local university, with support to achieve the Incorporated Civil Engineer (IEng MICE) professional qualification through Skanska’s ICE-accredited training agreement.
