Our client is looking for a Specialist Chemist to conduct, document and report on a range of studies and investigations to improve their service offerings and quality of test results.
Responsibilities:
- Provide advanced analytical chemistry expertise to support the inorganic department.
- Contribute to the development of method validation packages that comply with accreditation standards.
- Review and create detailed plans to update methods within the inorganic department, ensuring they reflect industry best practices.
- Research and develop new inorganic analytical techniques as needed by clients and the business.
- Investigate and perform non-routine methodology and data generation based on client and business requirements.
- Assist in the review and presentation of resource development initiatives that aim to enhance analytical methodologies.
- Support the quality team during scheduled audits and assist in improving the laboratory's quality standards.
- Implement business improvement initiatives across the inorganics lab, enhancing instrument availability, reducing rework, decreasing customer queries, and improving overall analytical capabilities and client service.
- Provide technical support to the sales and marketing team, helping with client acquisition and onboarding processes.
- Contribute to the future planning of the inorganics lab, including capacity assessments, selection of new instruments, and purchasing of consumables.
- Assist in implementing the Quality Management System and supporting procedures.
- Identify and communicate any deviations or issues with laboratory quality and test procedures.
- Ensure compliance with quality control procedures to facilitate continuous improvement in laboratory practices.
- Raise and conduct thorough investigations into non-conformances, including equipment failures, QC issues, and customer complaints, in a timely manner.
- Provide assistance to colleagues in areas of expertise as needed.
Requirements:
- Degree or equivalent in a scientific discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a relevant analytical role (inorganics).
- Understanding of IEC/ISO 17025, MCERTS, ISO 9001, other ISO standards and Quality Management Systems.
- Troubleshooting Method development - Inorganics.
