Job Description
Responsible for the design, build and day-to-day support of the Oracle databases. These databases are each 100TB in size (and growing), hold over 13 billion rows of data each and together process circa 1 billion SQL statements per day. As part of a DevOps team, you will work closely with the application and infrastructure POD SMEs to ensure these critical services function to the required standards. Maintain and improve SLAβs and ensure compliance to client policies at all times. Actively participate to achieve organisation objectives for efficiencies, innovations, and quality delivery. Perform pro-active analysis on day-to-day work, identify areas for automation, report and follow up on process or technical gaps, reduce repeat or false incidents, and standardise tasks/processes.
Support is required 24 hrs. x 7 days a week x 365 days from office or on call depending on business needs (usually 1 week in 4 on-call). Required to work on weekends (usually 1 in 4) often at short notice. Resource will get compensatory time-off as per HR guidelines.
Responsibilities
- All aspects of the Oracle DBA Support including the design, build, ongoing enhancements (e.g. automation) and 24*7 support
- RAC, Oracle 19, Database Restoration, Troubleshooting
- Must have strong experience of Oracle (v19c) RDBMS, RAC and Dataguard on a LINUX platform including:
- Perform Database software installation, upgrades and apply relevant patches
- Perform Database migrations β intra platform or inter platform
- Build and Deploy/Implement Solutions. Perform Capacity Planning and DR Planning.
- Troubleshooting and fixing incidents
- Creating / altering / dropping tablespaces
- Clone one environment from another
- Database backup / restore
- Data Archival activities
- Assist the development community with the resolution of miscellaneous queries and problems
- Database space management
- Implementing releases / service requests
- Server monitoring including health checks at server level and database level
- Keeping the systems up and running cleanly
- Timely escalation of issues to Team Lead
- Performance and Tuning of database
- Scripting Skills
- Customer Service and Problem Resolution
- Actively participate in crisis calls taking the lead from an Oracle DB perspective
- Participate in identifying problem situations and resolve to give maximum customer satisfaction
