Description Motability Operations is the UK\’s largest leasing company, supporting over 800,000 customers with worry-free mobility solutions. As we expand our capabilities in connected mobility, we are seeking an experienced Product Owner to help deliver our connected mobility strategy. This key role involves delivering a range of connected products and services that meet and surpass customer expectations, improve process efficiencies, and generate clear ROI. The successful candidate will manage the product backlog, define user stories, and ensure alignment with customer requirements and business objectives. Acting as a liaison between stakeholders and the development team, you will translate the product vision into a prioritised & actionable backlog that maximises business value and addresses customer needs, while enabling the delivery team to work efficiently. Key Responsibilities Backlog Management Oversee and manage the product backlog using prioritisation frameworks such as MoSCoW, RICE, Value/Effort, WSJF, etc. Ensure the backlog reflects customer needs, business value, and strategic goals. Continuously groom and refine backlog items to adapt to evolving requirements. Manage the product team\’s ticket mix and prioritise based on capacity, velocity, value, effort, and risk. User Story Development Develop clear, concise user stories with well-defined acceptance criteria to guide feature delivery aligned with customer expectations. Stakeholder Collaboration Work closely with the Product Manager to convert strategic roadmaps into prioritised, actionable backlogs. Serve as a key contact for stakeholders, gathering input and feedback for alignment with product goals. Communicate the product vision and roadmap effectively to all relevant parties. Customer Engagement Lead customer engagement initiatives to gather insights and feedback for product improvements. Development Team Leadership & Escalation Provide ongoing leadership, clarifying requirements and addressing questions during development. Support triage of production issues, understanding business impact and prioritising fixes. Agile Ceremonies Drive sprint planning and review ceremonies, setting goals and priorities. Review completed work to ensure it meets acceptance criteria. Support team presentations and demos, articulating problems, solutions, and upcoming work. Performance Tracking & Optimization Manage product performance against KPIs such as capacity, velocity, cycle time, etc. Drive continuous improvement to enable faster, better product releases. Cross-Functional Collaboration Collaborate with marketing, design, engineering, and QA teams to ensure successful delivery. Market Research Stay informed on industry trends and competitor products to identify innovation opportunities. Communication Facilitation Ensure effective team communication, resolving impediments to progress. Qualifications You should have a strong background in product ownership or management within an Agile environment, with excellent communication skills to influence cross-functional teams. Proven experience in software development lifecycle, managing backlogs, and developing user stories is essential. Analytical skills to assess and make data-driven decisions, along with a passion for delivering high-quality products, are required. Minimum Criteria Experience as a Product Owner or similar role Proven backlog management and user story development skills Strong understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum preferred) Experience working with data for insights and analysis Excellent communication skills Ability to collaborate across teams Familiarity with tools like JIRA, Confluence, Miro Knowledge of software development lifecycle (not necessarily technical) Understanding data governance and ethics Desirable Knowledge of connected cars, telematics, APIs, cloud data solutions Who You\’ll Be Working With As a Product Owner in Connected Mobility, you\’ll shape the future of mobility at Motability Operations, working with industry experts to develop innovative customer solutions.
