Statutory and Regulatory Reporting Accountant (15166) City of London, England Job Title: Statutory & Regulatory Reporting Accountant Location: London (Hybrid Working, 3 days in office) Role Type: 12 month contract (FTC) Role Objective: This role is responsible for the preparation of statutory and regulatory returns for Aspen’s UK insurance entities and the delivery of Aspen’s key IFRS 17 deliverables across multiple locations. Key Responsibilities: Preparation of statutory and regulatory returns including financial statements, US Trust returns, Singapore and Canadian branch regulatory returns, and ad hoc requests. Propose and design IFRS 17 related controls and governance processes to support quarterly and annual processes. Design IFRS 17 quarterly and annual processes and timetable for relevant entities and branches. Respond to data requests from internal and external stakeholders. Handle queries from internal and external auditors. Determine work priorities and activities to meet objectives. Prepare forecast capital positions for legal entities, including IFRS 17 basis. Analyze capital and liquidity positions of branches, including Trust Fund requirements. Prepare detailed working papers supporting regulatory returns. Communicate results to line manager, providing visibility into work details, assumptions, and conclusions. Perform validation and analytical review of data, addressing inconsistencies. Update methodology papers supporting regulatory reporting. Identify and support system and process improvements. Maintain strong controls over regulatory returns production. Coordinate with other finance teams and external departments to support reporting and resolve queries. Apply expert knowledge of financial reporting standards and insurance technical accounting. Develop understanding of regulatory rules and integrate them into reporting processes. Collaborate with offshore teams to build a culture of accountability and performance. Requirements & Skills: ACCA/ACA/CMA qualified with +2 years post-qualified experience in insurance. Experience managing team members. Strong understanding of UK Companies Act, UK GAAP, IFRS; US GAAP desirable. Detailed knowledge of insurance technical accounting and reporting. Advanced MS Excel, intermediate MS Word and PowerPoint skills. Coda, Coda XL experience desirable. Ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
