You will be reviewing customer applications to identify risk factors and assess whether we can offer Life, Critical Illness Cover, and Income Protection applications. What you’ll be doing:

  • Assessing and documenting life and disability risks by reviewing applications and deciding on terms based on your autonomy level.
  • Participating in or leading projects to enhance the underwriting process and improve systems and commercial viability, including initiating such projects using your expertise and business awareness.
  • Ensuring requests for further information are appropriate and accurate, ensuring the customer journey is not impacted unnecessarily.
  • Identifying complaints and ensuring they are acted upon promptly, highlighting root causes to ensure compliance with response time limits.
  • Accurately recording all work daily to enable effective communication and business decisions.
  • Maintaining an excellent knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicating professionally with internal, external customers, and third parties to maximize customer satisfaction and meet expectations.
  • Understanding service commitments made during marketing and sales to ensure these are met and customer expectations are fulfilled.

Who we’re looking for:

  • Experience in underwriting protection products.
  • Experience in UK medical underwriting (essential).
  • Thorough understanding of mortality, morbidity, and financial underwriting risk factors.
  • Extensive knowledge of all protection products.
  • Understanding of legislation and regulatory requirements (preferable).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
