Role: Professional Indemnity Lawyer
Location: North-West or Birmingham

Our successful Professional Indemnity team is looking for an experienced individual to be based in either our Liverpool or Birmingham office. (Hybrid working available.) The team is seeking a Solicitor (1-5 years PQE) to deal with claims against solicitors, construction professionals, property professionals, insolvency practitioners and/or accountants as well as advising on some very large and complex policy issues. The role will involve running a caseload of professional indemnity claims as well as assisting lead partners with high value and multi-party claims. There are also likely to be secondment opportunities in the future. This is an exciting opportunity where the team members are willing to invest their time and expertise in making this a long and successful career for the right candidate in the competitive area of Professional Indemnity claims.

- Proactive management of your own caseload
- Liaising with the Insured and Insurers
- Dealing with disclosure
- Reviewing evidence
- Conducting investigations
- Instructing Counsel/Experts
- Research
- Drafting generally
- Attending conferences and Trials with Counsel
- Dealing with routine correspondence
- Court appointments
- Attending mediations
- Dealing with adjudications
The individual may also be required to undertake the following:
- Initial report/review
- Periodic review
- Update reports

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential:
- Legal qualification required i.e. Solicitor / FILEX or equivalent
- The personal skills to deal with major litigation involving liaison with senior claims handlers
- An ability to prioritise workload
- An ability to communicate in writing and prepare succinct and concise reports
- Ability to pay attention to detail
- Ability to work with case management systems
Desirable:
- Previous defendant professional indemnity experience (1-5 years PQE), preferably with some experience of defending claims against Solicitors
- Demonstrate a commercial awareness of the Professional Indemnity market
- willingness to play a role in the development of client relationships and of the practice as a whole
- Claims handling experience (via a previous secondment or otherwise)
