The Data Centre HVAP Technician oversees planned and reactive maintenance activities, collaborating with the building Engineering Supervisor and Shift Leader. Responsibilities include liaising with management and client personnel to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and safety regulations. The role involves operating as an Authorised Person, completing safety paperwork, and maintaining high standards of safety and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine maintenance on building systems to meet service level agreements.
- Respond promptly to alarms and perform emergency repairs.
- Implement controls within Permit to Work systems and develop switching schedules, SOPs, and EOPs.
- Maintain evaporative cooling and domestic water systems according to L8 standards.
- Ensure availability of spare parts and maintain maintenance records.
- Prepare Method Statements and Risk Assessments for tasks.
- Supervise subcontractors and ensure compliance with contractual and safety standards.
- Promote a safe working environment and uphold client and company policies.
- Present a professional image and deliver excellent customer service.
- Engage in personal development and ensure proper documentation for work packs.
- Provide incident support and handle unplanned faults.
Required Skills and Experience:
- HV Authorisation (essential), Wiring Regulations certificate, Level 3 NVQ.
- Manual Handling Training (advantageous).
- Emergency First Aid at Work qualification.
- Experience in incident/fault management in critical environments.
- Strong understanding of health and safety obligations.
- Excellent communication skills, numeracy, and literacy.
- Self-motivated, diligent, and professional.
- Ability to work independently and in teams, prioritise tasks, and operate under pressure.
- Customer-facing skills, flexible working hours, and certifications like PASMA & IPAF (preferred).
- Knowledge of interlinked systems such as Fire, PMS, BMS.
- Ownership and accountability mindset.
