Currently I am working with a leading M&E contractor based in London who is seeking a dynamic and experienced Health and Safety Director to join their team. The business generates an annual turnover of more than £200 million with average MEP project values of £30 million+.
The role offers the chance to work on innovative projects while ensuring the highest standards of health and safety across the organisation. This is a London based role overseeing a variety of projects operating across the construction industry within the commercial, data centre and life science sectors.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- It is the responsibility of the Health, Safety & Wellbeing Director to review the health, safety and wellbeing training needs of employees and contractors at all levels at regular intervals. Training will be given to all employees and contractors as necessary in line with legislation and industry best practice requirements.
- Developing and implementing company-wide health and safety policies and procedures
- Leading risk assessments and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations
- Promoting a safety-first culture across all projects and operations
- Managing and mentoring the H&S team, driving continuous improvement
- Liaising with senior management to ensure H&S standards align with business goals
- Leading incident investigations and reporting, while implementing corrective actions
- Working with Senior Management (Project Director) and (Division Director) to ensure best practice and process.
- Developing Health and Safety strategies.
- Leading the H&S department across a £150m business unit you will be responsible for the 4 people in the H&S team and strategically managed the department.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Extensive experience in health and safety leadership roles within the construction, engineering, or M&E sector.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation, best practices, and industry standards.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience in risk management, accident investigation, and safety audits.
- NEBOSH National Diploma or equivalent in Occupational Health and Safety (or higher).
- Professional membership of recognized bodies, such as IOSH (Chartered Membership) or the equivalent.
