Principal Solutions Architect (Secure Systems)

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a highly skilled Solution Architecture Team who specialise in design and implementation of complex secure systems. We are a fast growing Small to Medium-Sized Enterprise (SME) who offer a varied workload day-to-day, with long term careers through multiple progression paths, and a culture that promotes both a social working environment and an accommodating work life balance.

Logiq Consulting are Cyber Security and Information Assurance experts, specialising in delivering leading edge consultancy to clients with high-risk business operations, along with a range of security services and products relied upon throughout the Private and Public Sector.

Our existing programmes of work are expanding rapidly, and we have urgent requirements for a Principal Consultant, to enable us to continue to deliver at an accelerated rate. Ideally, you will have current or recent experience leading the design and engineering delivery of complex IT transformation, either within Defence or Security organisations.

About You

We are seeking a highly capable Principal Solution Architect to join the Secure Systems team within the company’s Architecture Practice. The successful candidate will be a Full Member of the British Computer Society (BCS) (or equivalent Chartered Institute) and should hold a certification such as Chartered IT Professional (CITP) or Chartered Engineer (CEng). It would also be desirable for them to hold current certifications in relevant technologies and products commonly deployed in secure systems.

Ideally, you will have worked across the system lifecycle, undertaking the key engineering stages from requirements, architecture & design, through to detailed implementation planning, execution, and testing. You will also have hands-on experience of the challenges of secure system delivery, high assurance development and deployment, and working in air-gapped environments. It is essential that you can demonstrate the highly integrated role of architecture & design with continuous security assurance, when delivering secure capabilities.

The ideal candidate will be both experienced and invested in ensuring that our clients\’ solutions are effective and secure and will have the inter-personal skills needed to do this, e.g. ability to lead workshops, engage with business leaders, and drive the secure solutions required to meet complex and competing requirements. With your delivery experience, you will be comfortable operating in a ‘customer friend’ type role, supporting clients understand, trade and optimise their solutions to deliver operational capabilities within their project constraints.

You will also be comfortable enhancing customer relationships and identifying opportunities for growth and will have experience developing proposals and tender submissions in pursuit of new business opportunities.

Experience and Knowledge

Demonstrable experience of the following:

  • Leading the development of architecture and design artefacts for complex IT requirements.
  • Practical delivery and transition of complex IT services from design to live service.
  • Coordinating and managing trade-off based on stakeholder needs, project and resource constraints.
  • Championing the transformation, through defined vision and a compelling set of architecture views, leading the delivery ‘journey’.
  • Enabling delivery through the definition of methodologies, approach, team structure, and supporting technologies that enable successful transformation across an engineering lifecycle.
  • Shaping policies, principles and standards, aligning IT transformation to these in an organisational/enterprise context, in order to deliver efficiently.
  • Driving the full engineering lifecycle to ensure traceability of stakeholder requirements, through all stages, up to and including transition to live.
  • Supporting the project delivery management function with accurate and timely planning assumptions.
  • Abstracting complexity into project parameters for senior stakeholders.

Knowledge and understanding of core IT technologies and architecture frameworks, including but not limited to:

  • Design and Delivery of datacentre infrastructure and networks.
  • Design and Delivery of multi-site and geographically dispersed systems.
  • Design and Delivery of complex application and service architectures.
  • Deployment and use of container technology (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes).
  • The challenges of air-gapped / non-internet connected environments.
  • Experience in managing and coordinating Continuous Integration Continuous Deployment (CI/CD).
  • Business analysis and systems engineering methodologies in support of requirements management and architecture development.
  • Computer, Network and Cloud Security architectures and controls, System Hardening, Secure Boundary Protection architectures and controls, Cryptographic controls (Data at Rest, Data in Transit, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI)), Security Monitoring and System Security Audit.
  • National and international security standards including the NIST Cyber Security Framework, Special Publication 800 Series and other industry frameworks.
  • Familiarity with TOGAF and Archimate.
  • Experience in MOD security policy, processes, and practices (inc Joint Service Publications 604, 440).
  • Relevant education and qualifications in IT, Computer Science or Engineering.
  • Relevant certification in CI/CD methodology.
  • Relevant vendor certifications (e.g. Microsoft, VMware, Cisco, AWS).
  • Relevant certifications in architecture methodologies.
  • Relevant certifications in agile delivery methodologies.
  • Practical experience implementing NCSC guidance and best practice.
