The Bezos Centre for Sustainable Protein – Imperial is offering three fully funded PhDs as part of the first Bezos Centre PhD cohort on Alternative Proteins (2025 entry). As alternative proteins — from plant-based to cultivated and fermentation-based — continue to evolve, these interdisciplinary projects explore how we can ensure this transition benefits both people and planet.

  • PhD in Precision Fermentation: Sustainable C1-feedstocks at the Department of Bioengineering
  • PhD in Consumer Acceptance and Marketing Strategies: Alternative Proteins with the Centre for Health Economics & Policy Innovation at the Imperial Business School

These projects contribute directly to building a resilient, equitable, and sustainable food system — and get the chance to be part of a vibrant global research community with over 100+ researchers shaping the future of food.
