Role: Investment Capability Manager

The Role

Responsible for managing the processes to create, develop and implement specific investment capabilities and infrastructure to deliver information to support the practical application of investment research recommendations and investment and portfolio management processes. Responsible for management of a portfolio of projects management of the front to back delivery of new investment capabilities and will work on specific improvements, articulating requirements, ensuring that deliverables meet the required use case and to promote discipline in task management in order to meet deadlines.

Outcomes of the Role

  • Lead project management of the development of new investment capabilities and the development of investment products including segregated mandates and delivery of new products and services as required.
  • Identify requirements and deliver improvements to product governance processes and their implementation.
  • Promote discipline in task management.
  • Lead on managing communications with stakeholders and define appropriate governance arrangements for project portfolio.
  • Facilitate the appointment of appropriate team members to deliver portfolio objectives.
  • Evaluate, assess and report on critical risks relating to Research implementation processes and capabilities as appropriate to Co-CIOs and Research leadership team.
  • Lead on interaction with Change function to ensure co-ordinated approach to implementation, resources and priorities.
  • Coordinate with other project and product groups to manage interdependencies, accelerate development, mitigate risks and ensure on-time delivery.
  • Initiate additional activities and other management interventions wherever gaps arise or issues are identified.
  • Provide information and support to Research leadership on key strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure overall integrity of project portfolio and that appropriate quality assurance standards are defined and met.
  • Manage project and programme budgets, monitoring expenditure and costs against delivered and realised benefits as projects progress.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Graduate level or above (or equivalent).
  • PRINCE2, PMP or Agile ScrumMaster qualified.
  • Significant experience in this or a related field.
  • IMC, CFA or other financial qualification.
  • Qualification in business management an advantage.
  • Experience and understanding of data, digital, risk management infrastructure an advantage.
  • Use of FactSet and/or Bloomberg.
  • Proven experience of using proprietary data aggregator web/software platforms or similar preferred.
  • Experience of foreign exchange hedging.
  • Familiarity with cloud data solutions such as Snowflake, and tools such as Alteryx and PowerBI.
  • High level of organisational ability and attention to detail.
  • Self-starter who is able to take initiative and operate successfully on an independent basis.
  • Clear analytical approach to projects and tasks.
  • Committed and highly dependable team player.
  • Effective leadership, interpersonal and communication skills, ability to command respect and create a sense of community among members of the project team.
  • Strong IT skills including high proficiency in MS Office including Excel and MS Project.
  • Proven ability to manage and deliver projects on time and to target.
