Job Summary

Aureos is seeking a Health and Safety Manager to join our distribution team based in Scotland.

The HSQE Manager will provide the provision of competent health, safety, quality (assurance) and site environmental advice. Ensuring inspections and guidance for the site staff and management team is carried out.

Providing challenge where required and not walking by. Promotion of safe equipment, standards and method of working. Managing and mentoring of those under their control, developing areas where the staff can improve their skills. Showing the behaviours expected and leading by example each and every time.

This is a site-based role.

Primary duties, responsibilities and accountabilities

  • Where unsafe working is identified, stop the works, agree and document suitable and safe solution and re-brief.
  • Responsible for managing and mentoring of HSQE Advisors
  • Responsible for ensuring HSQE specific KPI information is produced
  • Active attendance and participation in internal / external meetings / forums / working groups to promote the business activities
  • Assisting the operational team with reviewing of CDM documentation
  • Assurance of process and working methods; monitor effectiveness of the business management system
  • Take an active role in developing, maintaining and promoting a positive HSQE culture
  • Ensuring compliance with standards and client requirements
  • Undertaking task analysis of risk assessment and method statements / Task briefings
  • Provide support and advice for staff to aid and promote sustainable practices
  • Ensure all requirements and findings are closed within the required timescales
  • For ensuring any lessons are shared with the wider team and managing the team resource in the most cost effective and economical manner.
  • Ensuring any problems or positives are raised to a higher level as necessary.
  • Ensuring the required level and quality of HSE advice required is provided.

Secondary duties, responsibilities and accountabilities

  • Liaison with regulatory/enforcement bodies when required
  • Encourage quality contributions and ensure timely close out and feedback is actioned, promote lessons learnt and good practice sharing.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with site teams, clients and other stakeholders
  • Promotion of health and wellbeing support, and directing staff where required
  • Prepare and deliver workforce (including subcontractors) engagement (tool box talks, awareness sessions)
  • Lead on Level 2 investigations
  • Proactively reducing risk through input and attendance during the planning process
  • Provide support to tendering activity as required
  • Deputise for Lead HSQE Manager where appropriate

Qualifications and Training

Essential:

  • NEBOSH Construction Level 3 – Level 6 (or equivalent)
  • IOSH Membership Grad – Chartered (or equivalent)
  • IEMA Practitioner member or above (or equivalent)
  • Mental Health First Aider
  • Driving Licence
  • Kelvin Top Set 1 day – 3 day
  • Report writing course
  • Aureos Manager & Supervisor Training
  • Behavioural Safety Training incl TCUP

Desirable:

  • CSCS
  • EUSR
  • PTS

Knowledge and Experience

  • Understanding of working methods
