Role Purpose

As a key member of the Capital Management team (with an emphasis on data manipulation, collation and analysis), this role will contribute to the delivery of the function’s key objectives:

  • Support the completion of actual and projected capital models, including the S&P model, BCAR model and the BSCR (Bermuda Solvency Capital Requirement).
  • Consultancy support – to determine the capital implications of new initiatives, and establish proposals to maximise capital efficiency.
  • Development of tools and the performance of quantitative analysis – to aid strategic decision-making by the business.
  • Support the Group Chief Corporate Finance Officer in the preparation of presentations for the Board and external stakeholders on business performance, strategy and medium to long term plans.

Key Results Areas

Strategy and Planning

  • Contribute to the preparation and implementation of Corporate Finance strategy and plans.
  • Assist in the creation of presentations for the Board and external stakeholders on business performance and strategy.
  • Assist with the production of ROE (Return on Equity) analysis to help prioritise key growth areas for the business.

Policy, Process and Procedures

  • Adhere to modelling and reporting rules and standards as established by the relevant Regulatory bodies and equivalent internal/external stakeholders.

Environmental Awareness/Customer Focus

  • Liaise with stakeholders from relevant teams across the company (including capital modelling, reserving, finance and planning) to collate and reconcile the required data.

Technical Performance

  • Build an understanding of how the various factors (e.g. premiums, reserves and investments) influence the available and required capital of these models.

Knowledge

  • Strong technical, quantitative analysis and problem-solving skills coupled with an enthusiasm for accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Technical proficiency with Microsoft Excel (Advanced Level) and PowerPoint is essential – including proven ability to handle data and prepare professional presentations.

Skills

  • Good GCSE and A/AS Level grades, ideally having studied a numerical subject to A Level.
  • Bachelor’s Degree level qualification (or equivalent) in a numeric discipline (e.g. Maths, Finance, Science, Technology, or Engineering).
  • Currently studying or has the desire to study for an Internationally recognized accounting (or equivalent) designation (e.g. CFA or Actuarial qualification pathways).

Experience

  • Previous experience within the (re)insurance industry is strongly desirable.
  • Experience with capital models (e.g. working knowledge of rating-agency/regulatory models or similar stochastic/factor-based platforms), would also be a significant advantage.
