Overview
McAllister has secured a prestigious contract with Southern Water and as part of this exciting new venture, we are expanding our team for a HSE Advisor to provide HSQE support on multiple sites in the Hampshire, Sussex and Kent areas, with headquarters in Horsham.
Responsibilities and Focus:
- Provide HSQE support on multiple sites across all McAllister works, sites and frameworks.
- Support HSQE Manager, Project Manager’s, Operations Manager and Delivery Managers and advise on risk assessments and consider how risks could be reduced.
- Carry out regular site inspections and audits to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented.
- Keep records of inspection findings and report on trends, non-conformances and improvements as well as good practise.
- Ensure working practices are safe and in compliance with our safety, environmental and quality standards.
- Carry out incident and accident investigations and ensure actions are completed in a timely manner.
- Carry out in-house coaching, training and deliver TBT’s relating to health and safety issues.
- Advise on Safe Systems of Work and ensure compliance.
- Promote safety culture change and support health and safety campaigns.
- Build good relations and communications with clients.
- Attend meetings as required.
- In the event of an incident the escalation matrix must be followed to ensure full information is collated.
- Access the Group Management System to locate documentation required for site.
- Champion campaigns on site and deliver TBT and Lessons Learnt.
- Cooperate with the business and uphold the McAllister high Health and Safety Standards.
- Take the upmost pride in the team’s workmanship, safety and environmental awareness.
- Lead the way and empower your teams to ‘Stop in the event of change’, challenge any unsafe working methods or behaviours and raise any unsafe observations to the HSQE Manager or Project Manager.
Experience & Training
- At least 2 year\’s UK based experience in a similar site based HSEQ role within the construction, drainage or civils industries is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with employees at all levels.
- A thorough understanding of relevant health, safety, environmental legislation and best practices is required.
- Minimum level 3 qualification in health and safety (such as NEBOSH or equivalent) is required.
