The Store Manager In Training (SMIT) job is a development-focused role designed to prepare you for a CVS Store Manager position. The program enhances your career as a future store leader through a self-paced, collaborative training over 16 weeks, including virtual and hands-on learning experiences. Support for your growth includes your District Leader, Human Resources Business Partner, Training Store Manager, and your Store Manager coach.

Skills needed for this role include:

  • Effective verbal and written communication to support and lead your team.
  • Customer care duties to provide high levels of service.
  • Executing merchandising strategies to support store sales growth.
  • Managing store inventory and assets to maintain profitability.

We expect our SMITs to:

  • Actively engage with your leader during Key Learning Experiences to support your promotion path.
  • Support your store as a management team member and lead in accordance with CVS values and policies.
  • Engage colleagues in supporting the company's purpose of "helping people on their path to better health."
  • Be willing to accept promotion roles within the market.

Note: Selection for the SMIT position does not guarantee promotion to Store Manager. Promotion depends on performance and available openings. Willingness to accept a Store Manager role at any location within the market and to transfer as needed. Ability to work a schedule that varies based on business needs.

Qualifications include:

  • High School diploma or GED (required).
  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred).
  • Retail management or CVS supervisory experience (preferred).
