Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will oversee and manage the operations of our die shop. This role involves supervising the production, maintenance, and repair of dies, ensuring optimal efficiency, quality, and safety. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership abilities, technical expertise, and a commitment to driving continuous improvement in a dynamic manufacturing environment. You will have a team of direct reports where you will need to have an active role in their development.
You will work on:
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor all activities within the die shop, including die design, correction, repair, and maintenance.
- Optimise die quality and design to achieve high productivity, minimise scrap, reduce die stops, and ensure die turnaround aligns with business needs.
- Manage relationships with die suppliers, identifying the best-fit die technology for each product.
- Follow up on press alignment measurements and specific precision tooling requirements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to die manufacturing and repair.
- Monitor and control weight per meter when required, proposing improvement actions as necessary.
- Develop and implement operator TPM programs to minimise downtime.
- Evaluate the feasibility of new products and oversee the purchase of new dies accordingly.
- Lead and manage a team of skilled technicians, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
- Develop and keep active the department Hydro Monitor Plan.
- Monitor inventory levels of tools, equipment, and materials, ensuring availability for uninterrupted operations.
- Collaborate with other departments to meet production goals and address challenges.
- Ensure the health and safety of all personnel by maintaining up-to-date risk assessments, OPLs (One Point Lessons), and training programs.
- Maintain compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Drive process improvements, cost optimisation, and adoption of new technologies to enhance efficiency and productivity.
