DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on all makes of vehicles and trailers to DVSA standard.
  • Diagnose, report & rectify all types of faults on both vehicles & trailers.
  • Ensure all vehicles worked upon are handled carefully & that all relevant precautions are taken & company processes followed at all times.
  • Work safely to ensure health & safety regulations & safe working practices are adhered to at all times.
  • Ensure accurate record keeping is maintained & job cards & service sheets are completed accurately & on time.
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness in the workshop.
  • Keep up to date with current legislation & accreditation critical to the role.
  • Prepare & present vehicles for MOT test to DVSA standard.
  • Conduct vehicle & trailer brake roller testing.
  • Carry out vehicle fault diagnostics.
  • Test driving of vehicles following repairs.
  • Liaise with fleet manager & workshop manager.
  • Show flexibility & adaptability with strong teamwork ethic, able to problem solve, prioritise & make key decisions where necessary, work independently when required.
  • Ability to focus & work with attention to detail & accuracy.
  • Ensure all company vehicles are inspected & maintained in line with current legislation & expected standard of roadworthiness.
  • Regular maintenance & inspection of workshop equipment & tools to ensure they meet the standard required for safety & current legislation.

Hours: Shift 1 15:30 pm – 02:30 am, Shift 2 05:00 am – 16:00 pm. Minimum hours – 48 – a level of flexibility will be required.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • HGV Licence – Min class 2 (preferable).
  • Scania experience preferred.
  • Experience in a commercial workshop.
  • Good understanding of Electrics, Pneumatics and Hydraulics.
  • IRTEC accreditation.
  • Technical qualification City & Guilds or NVQ qualified technician or with proven documented experience in repairing & maintaining vehicles.
  • Must be eligible to work in UK.

Salary: £48,000 - £55,000 per annum.

RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Responsible to: Workshop Manager.
  • Responsible for: None.
  • Liaison with: Directors, Managers, Customers, Supplier.
