Communications and Marketing Manager

Location: Lewes Salary: Scale SCP: 13 – 17 (starting at GBP 28,163 pa pro-rata) plus generous Local Government Pension Scheme Part-time: 16 hours per week; 1-year fixed-term contract (maternity cover) Do you have experience in public engagement? The Role The Town Council is seeking an experienced communications and marketing specialist to lead its internal and external communications, driving engagement and raising awareness of the council\’s work and Lewes town. With a broad remit, no two days are alike. You will oversee the website, social media, and public relations, while advising other teams on communication strategies. Your work may involve supporting major council initiatives, public consultations, and organizing public events such as heritage celebrations, as well as writing press statements on key service updates. Working with the Town Clerk, council officers, and external partners, you will craft messaging that is effective across multiple platforms. They are looking for a proactive, strategic communicator with strong writing, marketing, and digital skills. Experience in delivering impactful campaigns, managing press relations, and engaging diverse audiences across channels is essential. Organizational skills, creativity, and attention to detail will be crucial to ensure the council\’s messaging is clear, accessible, and effective.
