The Position
Professional Engineer Administrators are responsible for management of an assigned district, function or division in the Department of Transportation. Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives. The role involves overseeing the management and administration of construction contracts, reviewing project correspondence, change orders, schedules, and proposals to ensure compliance with specifications. It also includes directing maintenance, equipment shops, and communications, establishing policies and goals, and monitoring work performance. The position involves reviewing highway maintenance permits, conducting field reviews, and recommending changes for compliance. Additionally, the job entails monitoring expenditures, setting priorities for labor and equipment, developing budgets, and representing the department at various meetings and conferences to explain policies and projects.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
- Current licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) and four years of progressively responsible professional engineering experience in a supervisory or responsible project charge capacity; OR one year of experience as a Manager II, P.E. in Nevada State service; OR two years experience as a Manager I, P.E. or Supervisor IV, P.E. in Nevada State service; OR licensure and an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
Any person registered as a Professional Engineer in another state must become registered as a Professional Engineer in Nevada within six months following the date of appointment and as a continuing condition of employment.

Registration as a Professional Engineer is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
