An opportunity has arisen for you to work as a Registered Nurse on our busy Colorectal/Gastroenterology Ward. Our ward is a supportive learning environment where you can consolidate your Newly Registered Role or further develop your Registered Nursing career. We have a core team of highly experienced staff who will support you in your new position. You will have the opportunity to become an expert in clinical skills such as managing complex wounds, Total Parenteral Nutrition, NG/NJ/Peg management, stoma care, surgical and radiological drains, epidurals, PCA, and chest drains. If you are passionate about providing high-quality, individualized patient care, supporting patients' rehabilitation, and enhancing their independence and quality of life, we would like to hear from you. This post is part-time, 34 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of 10 patients in a 29-bed ward split into 3 teams.
- Administer medications.
- Escalate patient care concerns.
- Be responsible for your own learning and development.
- Supervise and manage learners.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Participate in board rounds.
- Advocate for patients and be involved in best interest decisions.
- Support family members through clear communication.
Allerton Ward is a fast-paced acute Colorectal Surgical/Gastroenterology unit with 29 beds, operating with a skill mix of 2 RNs and 1 HCA per 10 patients, reflecting our high acuity level. We also serve as the main ICU step-down ward. We manage highly complex patients requiring compassion and patience to motivate engagement. You will be welcomed by a supportive team and have opportunities to collaborate with extended clinical specialist teams, with potential rotation into the Endoscopy department.
