A brand-new role for a highly-motivated Product Manager to join our E-commerce team at Gear4music plc, one of Europe’s leading Musical Instrument and Equipment e-commerce retailers with over 500 employees across five countries, and revenues of £144m. Working closely with our commercial and technical teams, the ideal candidate will have previous exposure to software development in a fast-paced business.
Reporting into the Senior Product Manager, you will be an integral part of Gear4music’s ongoing success, taking responsibility for driving improvements and advancements throughout the end-to-end lifecycle of change. Working closely with stakeholders from all areas of the business, you will identify opportunities for technology and operationally-driven enhancements, develop business cases, and ensure successful delivery of products that will meaningfully improve our business. Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams, presenting proposals to senior stakeholders, and tracking the impact of product changes.
What you’ll do:
- Collaborate with stakeholders from various business functions to identify opportunities for improvement through technology.
- Develop financial business cases to quantify the impact of proposed changes, focusing on cost savings, operational efficiency, revenue growth, platform advancement, and statutory compliance.
- Present proposals of change to senior stakeholders through clear and robust documentation.
- Develop detailed requirements documents and work closely with Engineering teams to translate requirements into developer-friendly tickets / packages of work, ensuring the final product meets stakeholders\’ and business needs.
- Think with a commercial-first mindset to deliver value at pace.
- Facilitate direct discussions with software engineers on complex technical topics and challenge the teams’ approach when necessary.
- Act as the primary sponsor throughout the development process, providing detailed communications to stakeholders and the wider business to update on progress against agreed milestones.
- Work directly with engineering teams to identify issues that may negatively impact delivery to agreed milestones, and take steps to proactively mitigate.
- Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to ensure effective rollout and utilisation of the product.
- Report on the impact of product changes once operational, assessing return on investment.
Your skill-set and experience:
- Previous experience in a similar role such as Business Analyst, Project Manager, or Product Owner.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong ability to quickly grasp technical concepts is essential, an existing understanding of the full software development cycle is advantageous.
- Proven track record of successfully managing projects from initiation to delivery.
- Commercial acumen and the ability to align technology solutions with business objectives.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and project management frameworks.
- Experience in the e-commerce industry or related field is highly desirable.
