We are looking for an exceptional person to join The Gannochy Trust, a registered charity well known for its philanthropy and unique housing provision. Highly motivated, with excellent administrative and organisational skills, you will be committed to the values and broader aims of the Trust, and making a difference to people’s lives.

The Gannochy Trust was founded in 1937 by A K Bell. Our work today has been developed to support the full realisation of our founder’s visionary philanthropy. We provide affordable housing, manage a range of farms, woodlands and buildings and as an independent funder, manage a grant giving programme of around £5 million annually. The work of the Trust is both varied and interesting.

For this role, you will need to have substantial administrative experience and be willing to work flexibly as part of a team. You will lead the administration team in providing high quality administration support to the Board of Trustees, Chief Executive and Senior Management Team. An important part of the role is to support the efficient management of the Trust. This ranges from record management to contributing to projects, and making improvements to administration systems.

This post will be predominately office based with flexible working arrangements available subject to operational requirements.

An exciting opportunity reporting directly to our Chief Executive, the remit of this role provides an excellent chance to make a real difference to the lives of those who work and live in Stirling. This is an interesting role which encompasses our People and Communities, Customer Service and Performance, and Housing services. As well as overseeing the delivery of these services, the role holder will be a corporate leader, demonstrating strong leadership to the Council's Senior Team.

To be successful in this role, you will balance strategic thinking with operational delivery, and will have a demonstrable track record of having delivered against local or national objectives in a senior role. Putting communities at the heart of everything you do will be important to you, and you’ll drive our organisational culture to innovate and to modernise Council services with people in mind, whilst leading high performance teams to achieve these goals.

Stirling Council Advice Services is an accredited provider of welfare benefits, money and debt advice under the Scottish National Standards for Advice and Information Providers. The service is also one of the key providers of digital inclusion advice and support in the Stirling area.

We are currently recruiting for 1 full-time (35 hours) and 1 part-time (17.5 hours) Income Maximisation and Budgeting Adviser to work alongside our existing GP Outreach Adviser and the wider Advice Team. The Advisers will be based in GP Practices across the Stirling area and will provide advice and support to Stirling residents by:

  • completing benefit checks for clients;
  • supporting clients to fully maximise their income, through applying for welfare benefits and charitable grants;
  • providing advice on managing household budgets.

These posts are currently funded for 1 year and will report to the Senior Money, Debt & Benefit Adviser. The successful candidate will be required to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme (PVG) for Adults. Stirling Council's advice services offer extensive, independent guidance on money management, debt and welfare benefits to vulnerable citizens across Stirling. These services are provided through two main initiatives:

  • Advice Stirling: Provides Money, Debt & Benefit advice and advocacy to Stirling citizens through a number of different projects.
  • Forth Valley Macmillan Money Matters: This initiative focuses on income maximisation for individuals diagnosed with cancer and their families/carers.

Additionally, the team is a key local provider of digital inclusion services, aimed at enhancing people's digital skills. The New Scots in Stirling Project was established in January 2021 and is a collaboration between Advice Services, the Resettlement Team and the Learning and Employability Team. The project is designed to support the increasing number of refugees in Stirling; and we strive to create an inclusive, welcoming community where everyone has the opportunity to achieve financial stability and independence.

This project consists of the following support:

  • Resettlement Team: Provides support and guidance on settling in Stirling,
  • Learning and Employability: Assists individuals with learning opportunities such as ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) and helps identify employment opportunities.
  • Advice Stirling: Assists individuals with income maximisation, welfare rights advice, budgeting support, guidance on the UK benefit system and debt advice.
  • Digital Inclusion Programme: Helps individuals improve their digital skills and supports the introduction of digital services like E-visas and Universal Credit.

We are now expanding the project and are seeking 2 dedicated and resourceful Income Maximisation and Budgeting Advisers and an additional Digital Inclusion Worker to join our team. The Income Maximisation and Budgeting Advisers will support the growing number of refugees in Stirling, by helping them to access their entitlement to welfare benefits and increasing their knowledge of the benefit system in the UK. You will provide advice on income maximisation and budgeting to individuals who are new to Scotland and assist them in navigating the complexities of the welfare system. In addition to refugees, you will also be supporting residents that are subject to immigration control that are new to Scotland. You will be required to utilise interpretation services regularly in person and via telephone.

These posts are currently funded for 2 years and will report to the Senior Money, Debt & Benefit Adviser.
