To help us achieve this, we're seeking a driven WHS Technician. Using your communication, coaching and mentoring skills, you will be providing health and safety advice, guidance and support at all levels of our operational team to manage and drive health and safety in one of our Fulfilment Centres (FCs). Our Fulfilment Centres are at the heart of Amazon's rapidly growing business: they manage our fast-moving inventory. Our associate teams stow deliveries, pick products, package them up and ship them out. Each of these groups has contributed to our current success. In this crucial health and safety position, you'll report to the WHS Manager in a shift-based role.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Provide high visibility presence within the Fulfilment Centre to drive engagement and build relationships with associates and managers at all levels.
- Attend site meetings, such as daily deep dive and flow meetings, as needed.
- Complete key duties such as observations, inspections, and audits to promote injury prevention and training compliance, and participate in management audits to build trust and support.
- Assist in first aid and incident investigations, providing technical advice and support to leadership to ensure duty of care is met, causal factors are identified, and corrective actions are driven.
- Maintain oversight of action tracking and compliance systems, hold action owners accountable, and provide coaching to improve performance.
- Understand and monitor compliance with key regulatory, legislative, and internal standards (HASAWA, MHSAW, RIDDOR), reporting to the WHS Manager as needed.
- Complete daily standard work as assigned by the WHS Manager and communicate completion.
- Advise and collaborate with operations to undertake and review risk assessments to ensure safety and proactive control measure deployment.
- Learn and implement Amazon WHS procedures, providing technical advice to leadership.
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in safety investigations.
- Support coaching, training, and briefings to operational teams to ensure compliance and promote safe behaviours.
- Support deployment of site and regional projects.
- Be flexible and willing to cover non-traditional shifts, including nights and weekends during peak periods.
Basic Qualifications
- Health and Safety NVQ Level 3 or NEBOSH National General Certificate (or equivalent).
- Meticulous attention to detail.
