EKFB is a joint venture that brings together international, market-leading expertise from four leading civil engineering and construction companies: Eiffage, Kier, Ferrovial Construction, and BAM Nuttall. All four partners have specialist expertise in the design, construction, operation, financing, and maintenance of railway networks, including the construction of one of Europe’s latest high-speed rail projects.

We are looking for a Senior Safety, Health, and Wellbeing Manager to join our North Chilterns to Aylesbury Area of works (NC2A). This role is based at our Aylesbury site compound on the A41. Due to the location, a full driving license is required.

The Senior Safety, Health, and Wellbeing Manager will lead all aspects of Safety, Health & Wellbeing for the assigned Delivery Area. The role involves engaging with the Delivery Team to implement EKFB's SH&W Strategy and programs at sectional level, monitoring key construction milestones, and providing feedback to the central SHW function.

This position acts as a link between the Delivery Team and the central SH&W function via the Routewide SH&W Manager. It ensures the completion of Hazard Profiles for the designated Delivery Area and implements proportionate local assurance measures aligned with EKFB requirements. The role involves identifying trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement from performance data and regular engagement with the local Delivery team.

The Senior SH&W Manager will promote a positive SH&W culture onsite, actively support “Making the Right Choice” and wellbeing initiatives, share best practices, and investigate findings from the Delivery Area. The role also involves managing and monitoring compliance with EKFB SH&W BMS requirements across the Delivery Area.

The role includes engaging with the Delivery Area Team to identify potential improvements or efficiencies in the EKFB BMS, communicating relevant benefits, and ensuring accurate and timely reporting of all SH&W activities, including events. Additionally, the role performs audits and surveillance activities across EKFB.

About You:

  • Holding or working towards a degree or similar qualification in occupational safety and health
  • Working towards Chartered professional status
  • Ability to manage multiple and conflicting priorities
  • Strong communication and engagement skills
  • Strong knowledge and practical application of SH&W in Construction / Civil Engineering
  • Experience managing SH&W for subcontracted and self-delivered works
  • Experience on major construction projects is essential
  • Must hold a full driving license
