R&D Technologist

Ashbourne

Β£35,000 – Β£42,000

Love the lab? Passionate about product innovation? This is your moment.

We\’re working with a leading-edge manufacturing business that\’s powering the future of building materials, and they\’re on the hunt for an ambitious, curious, and hands-on R&D Technologist to join their growing innovation team.

This is not your typical white-coat, clipboard role. You\’ll be mixing, testing, analysing, and actually creating the next generation of high-performance materials used in real-world, large-scale infrastructure projects. Think big, build smart, and help shape products that go the distance.

What\’s in it for you?

  • A central role in cutting-edge R&D projects
  • Autonomy, support, and a seat at the innovation table
  • Progression into senior roles in R&D or Quality
  • A fast-moving, problem-solving, hands-on lab environment
  • A business that genuinely values ideas and invests in people

What you\’ll be doing:

  • Creating and testing new material trial mixes
  • Coordinating lab trials and external testing programmes
  • Working with production and engineering teams to scale up ideas into real-world solutions
  • Researching the latest materials and market innovations
  • Producing sharp, insightful technical reports
  • Supporting the QA team when needed – you will be part of a team that has each other\’s backs

What we need from you:

  • A degree in Chemistry or a related scientific field
  • Solid hands-on knowledge of asphalt, bitumen, and ideally polymer technology
  • Practical experience with hot-melt or roofing systems is a huge plus
  • A naturally curious mind, problem-solving mindset, and an eye for detail
  • Great communication skills, confident writing technical reports and collaborating cross-functionally
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills and a proactive, organised approach to your work
  • Flexibility for occasional travel and adaptable working hours

This isn\’t just a job. It\’s your chance to shape the future of materials.

If you\’re ready to put your technical skills to the test in a role that rewards creativity, drive, and curiosity, this is the one for you.

Apply today or contact us to find out more. Let\’s build something brilliant together.
