About the role

Join ONSIDE and discover the role of a Wellbeing Advisor within the Strong Young Minds project. You will work within an organisation and be part of a team of professionals supporting children and young people (aged 9-26 years old) with their mental health and wellbeing. A Wellbeing Advisor will provide one-to-one support, brief intervention therapy, workshops, and group work, offering strategies and techniques to tackle issues such as self-harm, navigating relationships, family conflict, anxiety, low-level mental ill health, school transitions, caring responsibilities, and support in employment or housing. Additionally, you will facilitate peer listening and support through the use of Wellbeing Ambassadors.

Strong Young Minds is a Lottery funded project delivered by ONSIDE, aimed at helping children and young people address issues that negatively affect their mental health and wellbeing, including anxiety, depression, eating difficulties, self-harm, bullying, relationship breakdown, education & employment, low self-esteem, body image, and loss. The role will cover a range of community settings, such as community farms or youth groups, and involve close collaboration with other charities.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about ensuring children and young people have access to the support they need, with their best interests at the heart of everything you do. You should have a proven ability to identify and understand individual needs, inspire change, build rapport, and be creative in your approach. You will equip children and young people with tools and techniques to manage low-level mental ill health, improve their confidence, and create personalised plans to address issues impacting their lives.
