Job Title: QHSE Assistant
Location:Leigh, Wigan
Salary: £27,000 £29,000 per annum (DOE)
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (37.5 hours per week)

The Company

We are currently supporting a well-established manufacturer based in Wigan, known for their strong focus on quality, safety, and continuous improvement. As the business continues to grow, they are now looking to recruit a dedicated QHSE Assistant to support their on-site Quality, Health & Safety, and Environmental functions.

The Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in health & safety, quality, or compliance within a manufacturing or production environment. Working alongside the QHSE Manager, you\’ll support day-to-day operations, audits, training, and regulatory compliance across the site.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with internal audits, inspections, and compliance processes

• Support and maintain QHSE systems and procedures

• Carry out and review risk assessments (DSE, PUWER, COSHH, Manual Handling)

• Deliver H&S inductions and support ongoing training initiatives

• Investigate incidents and support root cause analysis

• Maintain environmental compliance and documentation

• Promote a positive safety culture across all levels of the business

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Previous experience in a QHSE, HSE, or Health & Safety role (ideally in manufacturing)

• IOSH or NEBOSH qualified (or currently working towards)

• Knowledge of BRCGS, ISO 9001/14001/45001 standards (desirable)

• Excellent attention to detail, strong communication and organisational skills

• IT literate, especially with Microsoft Office

• Full UK driving licence

Whats on Offer:

• Salary between £27,000 £29,000 (DOE)
