We are seeking a strategic, forward-thinking, and people-centric Head of Human Resources to lead the HR function for our Integrated Urgent Care (IUC) division – which encompasses NHS 111 contact centres, GP-led out-of-hours services, and GP practices. This role can be based at our Head Office in Theale, Reading or remote with some national travel.

As the HR lead for a complex, high-volume healthcare service, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our workforce strategy, driving operational efficiency, and enhancing our employee experience. You will work closely with the Service Director for IUC and the Group HR Director, helping to steer the division through continued transformation and growth while maintaining our mission: Access to Excellence.

Your impact will include:

  • Leading a multidisciplinary HR team (HRBPs, Resourcing, Engagement & L&D)
  • Creating and delivering an HR strategy aligned with IUC’s clinical and commercial goals
  • Driving cultural change, workforce engagement, and management capability
  • Supporting major workforce initiatives including TUPE, restructures, and bidding for new contracts
  • Embedding data-driven people solutions to improve performance, retention, and compliance
  • Spearheading internal communications and engagement across a diverse, distributed workforce

What You’ll Bring:

  • CIPD Chartered Membership or equivalent experience
  • A strong HR leadership background in complex, fast-paced environments (NHS, clinical, or public sector experience desirable)
  • Expertise in employment law, change management, TUPE, and recruitment strategy
  • Strategic mindset with hands-on capability – equally comfortable in the boardroom or supporting frontline teams
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the gravitas to influence senior stakeholders and coach operational leaders
