We are looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join us here at Castle Vets. You will join an established practice with many loyal clients, varied cases, and the chance to develop your specific areas of interest. This role will offer the opportunity to work across our Barnard Castle and Bishop Auckland practices.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced veterinary surgeon to work in our small animal practices. You'll be joining a hard-working, well-established team who work in a very collaborative way to support each other. This role as a Senior Vet will allow you to lead by example and take responsibility not just for your own cases but also to help the practice achieve the best possible client and animal care. To achieve this, you will be supported by a fantastic vet and nursing team who are passionate about patient care. This team offers you a strong, caring, and supportive mix of RVNs, PCAs, and receptionists. Your senior peers will support you in helping implement, review, and support clinical excellence and improving the patient and client journey for our well-established client base.

Alongside our facilities and specialist equipment, including endoscopy, laparoscopic spaying, advanced orthopaedics, and soft tissue surgery, our dedicated veterinary team are here to provide several services to our clients, including regular check-ups and routine procedures. We are passionate about animal care. We know as well as anyone that our clients' pets are important family members. That is why the whole team here treats their patients as one of their own. Our nurses are exceptional, with a huge range of skills. They do many regular nurse clinics and are heavily involved with maintaining high clinical standards. As a practice, we have very regular lunch and learns, which also help us to maintain our CPD and keep up to date. There is a good management structure to support with all aspects of daily vet life! Wellbeing is important, and our diary set up enables us to do our job effectively without having to compromise on time. We also have a separate farm department – Castle Farm Vets.

Salary and Hours: This is a permanent full-time role. (part time considered) Our practice opening hours are Monday to Friday 08:30 to 18:00 and Saturdays 09:00 to 12:30pm. Our practice is supported out of hours by Wear Referrals. The salary is up to £70,000 dependent on experience, plus benefits.
