The Senior Financial Accountant role offers a diverse range of responsibilities, providing opportunities to be involved in all areas of financial accounting. The position primarily focuses on reporting capital financial performance but also involves financial management and reporting of losses and revenue.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the Financial Accounting Manager in establishing a robust financial accounting and reporting system within the UHB.
- Interpreting accounting standards and advising on policies.
- Leading the coordination of the UHB’s Statutory Annual Accounts production.
- Ensuring the timely completion of monthly Welsh Government Financial Monitoring Returns.
- Working with the Welsh Government’s Regional Monitoring Officer to respond to information requests.
- Helping the UHB achieve its statutory financial targets.
- Providing technical input into financial proformas.
- Advising on financial performance, standards, and controls.
- Coordinating the production of accurate annual accounts.
- Liaising with external auditors.
- Implementing changes in accounting standards and NHS financial policies.
- Designing financial reports.
- Supporting the financial planning process.
- Assisting with departmental costing, including capital.
