The successful candidate will be based at the new college where a purpose-built construction, housing, advanced manufacturing and engineering centre will be located. Curriculum spans technical, vocational further and higher education and includes large apprenticeship provision and dedicated centres for young people with SEND. The College has two main campuses in Ashington, and Ponteland, and as part of the college group Education Partnership Northeast, it also has a significant number of satellite delivery centres across the region Served by easy road links, and the new train station in Ashington, when Northumberland College opens its new Department for Education backed campus at Wansbeck Business Park, the college will boast a national trailblazer both in architectural design and operation. About The Role At Northumberland College, we are looking to appoint a passionate and forward-thinking Programme Leader in Construction to lead on key priority areas that are shaping the future of the built environment. This exciting role focuses on integrating digital construction technologies, sustainable retrofitting practices, and modern methods of construction (MMC) into our curriculum—ensuring our learners are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and behaviours demanded by today’s housing and construction industries. As Programme Leader, you will play a crucial role in designing and delivering a curriculum that reflects these shifts—embedding areas such as BIM (Building Information Modelling), digital planning tools, energy-efficient retrofitting, and off-site construction techniques. You will work closely with employers and stakeholders across the region to ensure our training offer is aligned with current and future industry needs, supporting students to develop globally recognised competencies and meet evolving professional standards. Role Responsibilities Lead curriculum design focusing on digital construction, retrofitting, and modern methods of construction (MMC). Ensure programmes align with industry standards and emerging sector priorities in housing and construction. Integrate digital tools such as BIM and planning software into teaching and assessment strategies. Collaborate with employers to maintain industry relevance and strengthen student employability pathways. Support staff development and innovation in teaching sustainable and future-focused construction practices. Promote global competencies and behaviours expected in modern construction and housing sectors. Qualifications Minimum of a Level 4 in Construction selected subject or extensive experience of the digital / MMC construction areas. Level 5 in Education and Training or willing to work towards Minimum Level 2 Maths qualification Minimum Level 2 English qualification Skills & Experience Proven experience in construction, with expertise in digital tools, retrofitting, or modern methods of construction (MMC). Strong understanding of current and emerging trends in sustainable construction and housing. Experience designing or delivering vocational education or training in a construction-related field. Proficient in using industry-standard software such as BIM, CAD, or digital project planning tools. Ability to engage with employers and translate industry needs into curriculum content.
