Job Description:

This role is based in Northern England and offers an opportunity to work for an iconic group recognized on The Sunday Times’ ‘100 Best Companies to Work For’. The company has experienced its best year in over a century and is expanding its in-house packaging team.

The main objective of this position is to lead the development of the company\’s NPD & EPD portfolios in line with R&D KPIs and corporate vision.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Drive packaging exploration, development, and projects supporting product pipeline innovation and renovation.
• Scout for new technologies, materials, and concepts, translating these into product opportunities using open innovation and internal capabilities.
• Lead discovery projects with a focus on packaging.
• Develop packaging solutions from concept to material and supplier selection, factory trials, and implementation, ensuring compliance with food contact legislation.
• Utilize consumer insights and industry developments to generate packaging-led NPD ideas.
• Provide technical expertise on packaging for NPD/EPD projects and broader business needs.
• Influence R&D pipeline development through technical knowledge and consumer insights.
• Create prototypes, from mock-ups to fully functional branded packs for consumer testing.
• Build internal and external networks with suppliers, innovation partners, and co-manufacturers to support R&D and business growth.
• Minimize environmental impact by selecting sustainable packaging materials and suppliers.
• Support marketing, sales, and other departments with packaging-related inquiries, including customer visits.
• Manage up to two direct reports.
