This is an exciting role and opportunity to become part of our expanding IT Services Team in a fast-paced and diverse environment. As the server engineer you will work in a third line team of four on a range of equipment and support the 1st line team of 5 technicians with escalations related to the server infrastructure.

What will you be doing?

  • Installing new hardware and coming up with design solutions for new requirements or to improve/update existing systems. This will cover Windows Server 2016 and above, Dell rack servers, Synology NAS storage and VMware and Hyper V.
  • Carrying out “business as usual” functions such as backups and monitoring and working with the team generally to improve resilience and security.

As the successful candidate you will:

  • Ideally have Microsoft Server certifications.
  • Ideally have a minimum of two years’ experience in a similar role with good troubleshooting skills, technical knowledge and a service-driven attitude.
  • Have strong knowledge with IT troubleshooting (hardware and software) and experience with Server 2016, 2019 & 2022.
  • Have proven experience of resolving complex problems.
  • Have good communication skills, the ability to work under pressure either in a team or independently.
  • Be able to work flexibly, there will be a requirement to work on some or all Saturdays to carry out service impacting works. This can be discussed further at interview and would be a mix of remote and onsite working.
