Join our team and help share Hackney’s rich and diverse history! Hackney Museum is seeking a Collections & Engagement Assistant to support our exciting transformation and redevelopment project. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to making Hackney’s collections more accessible and engaging for all.
As a Collections & Engagement Assistant, you will play a vital role in collections documentation, care, and engagement. You will assist with taking items off display and installing the objects in the new permanent galleries; updating a range of information about the collections both on the internal database and online; publishing collections information and related items like objects photographs (taken by you), and supporting community engagement activities. You will need to follow existing processes and procedures to ensure the work is effectively and efficiently carried out. It will involve working with a variety of software applications, photographic hardware and image and sound file formats.
The successful candidate needs great attention to detail and data accuracy, as well as strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with communities so the information they share is fairly and accurately recorded.
Hackney Museum is the community history museum for the London Borough of Hackney. We celebrate the diverse roots of the people who live and work here, using our collections to empower communities and share their stories. We are currently undergoing a major redevelopment supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and Hackney Council.
