We are seeking passionate, high-performing individuals who thrive on challenging projects to join our team and contribute to a variety of exciting and rewarding initiatives. Ideal candidates will have a solid background in Power Systems, with experience in at least one power systems software package and/or proficiency in a relevant programming language such as Python. However, we welcome applicants who are eager to learn and grow, demonstrating a willingness to develop new skills.

This position is for any experience-level Power Systems Engineer responsible for assisting with various power system studies and grid connection projects for our clients. You will conduct studies using standard power systems software packages (e.g., NEPLAN, SKM, ETAP, PSCAD) to support our electricity network analysis. You will apply power system planning and protection principles, conduct simulations and analysis of steady-state operations, and develop mathematical models to assess electrical networks and equipment. You'll also lead and deliver power system analysis, generator connection compliance, and power quality studies.

While the tasks are primarily technical, they will not be limited to this. In addition to technical work, you may also be involved in preparing bids, undertaking administrative tasks such as preparing performance reports for the managerial committee, and contributing to commercial and sales activities aimed at bringing new clients to the group. You'll also provide technical support, consulting, and training services as needed, and actively share knowledge with colleagues.

Please note: Candidates must have the right to work in the United Kingdom. We are not sponsoring any visa.

The following capabilities and experience are desired for this role:

  • At least 1 to 2 years’ experience within the electricity networks industry. Non-experienced engineers can be considered if they have a Masters/PhD in related areas.
  • Ideally qualified to a Degree/Masters level, or with a PhD, in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems Engineering or similar.
  • Power Systems modelling experience for load flow analysis, fault level studies, grid code compliance, transient stability, harmonic analysis, dynamic and EMT analysis, protection studies and arc flash analysis.
  • Experience in using programs for the analysis and calculation of electrical power networks, such as NEPLAN, KMS, ETAP, PSSE, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD, MATLAB/Simulink and comparable tools.
  • Expertise in steady-state and dynamic modelling and power system analysis tasks.
  • Knowledge of the UK / Ireland regulatory framework, Grid Codes and system operation.
  • Scripting experience, e.g. Python, C++, FORTRAN.
  • Knowledge of protection studies, protection settings, power quality and arc flash studies.
  • Knowledge of generator control systems and associated power system equipment models.
  • Previous experience with Transmission System Operators/Owners and/or Distribution Network Operators/Owners.
  • Experience in commissioning and testing of protective relays and other types of electrical equipment.
  • Strong data analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with others.
  • Client focused with the ability to manage and grow positive relationships with demanding clients.
