We are seeking a skilled Mid-Level Back-End Engineer to join our growing development team. You will work on a system that utilizes PHP Symfony-based logic and communicates via REST APIs. This role is ideal for a motivated developer with a strong understanding of back-end development principles, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality, scalable solutions. As part of the team, you will collaborate closely with front-end developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to design, develop, and maintain back-end services that power our applications. As an individual, you will need to be cool, calm and collected under pressure. We value the ability to be analytical and detail-oriented. We expect everyone to be friendly and team players.
Location: Bath, UK or Tallinn, Estonia
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain the back-end system using PHP Symfony framework.
- Design, implement, and optimize REST APIs for seamless communication between systems.
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code following best practices.
- Troubleshoot and debug issues to ensure optimal application performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver features on time.
- Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and share knowledge.
- Work on optimizing system performance and scalability.
- Contribute to the overall architecture and technical direction of the platform.
Skills & Experience:
- Skills: HTML5, SQL, PHP, NodeJS, Git, Symfony/Laravel
- Good to know: GraphQL, Docker, Vue.js, Python
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in back-end development, with a focus on PHP and Symfony framework. Strong understanding of REST API design and development. Experience working with databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL, including schema design and query optimization.
