The Optimisation Team offers extra support to the NHS and wider system to overcome the workforce challenges being faced by the NHS. Our goal is to help the NHS and the wider system improve its use of our workforce services. This role will initially be working within our project team supporting the NHS Pensions area. You will work with internal teams and external stakeholders within a structured project management framework to ensure goals and objectives are met. This project involves process mapping, writing and training of Standard Operating Procedures and line management of Optimisation Administrators, amongst other things.

We are looking for colleagues to join the Optimisation Team as an Optimisation Implementation Advisor on a fixed term or secondment basis, with a contract length of 18 months. This position is currently hybrid working, with a main base of Newcastle, Fleetwood or Wakefield.

Main duties of the job:

  • Build excellent working relationships internally and externally, with colleagues, customers and system users.
  • Support the implementation of business change across several projects and diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Champion the use of workforce systems across the NHS and beyond by highlighting the benefits and providing bespoke support to ensure valuable and long-lasting improvement.
  • Prepare user guidance documents, briefings and process maps to support the implementation of improvements and process change.
  • Ensure that the benefits of the change activities are identified, measured and owned in order to realise the business benefits.
  • Prepare highlight reports defining progress, problems and solutions for the Senior Management Team.
  • Review and report to Optimisation Implementation Leads to ensure that lessons learned are incorporated into future developments by carrying out evaluations and assessment of results.

This post includes travel across the NHS regions.

In this role, you are accountable for:

  • Supporting and reporting to the Optimisation Implementation Lead.
  • Support multiple implementation projects to ensure a successful implementation for both NHSBSA and organisations using NHS Jobs, ESR, Pensions and HR Shared Services.
  • Be forward thinking and continuously reviewing the effectiveness of the implementation, changes and identifying improvements.
  • Ensure engagement from Implementation Team Members during the implementation of change, providing clear direction, updates and identification of risks and actions to enable a positive change experience.
  • Encourage an atmosphere of trust and openness based on working together and shared objectives.
  • Line management for direct reports and responsibility for the effective implementation of policies relating to appraisal, absence management, disciplinary and grievance processes, performance monitoring and management and personal development plans.
  • Prepare user guidance documents, briefings and process flows to support the implementation of improvements and process change.
  • Be accountable for your own personal development needs in order to be fully equipped to meet current and future management and organisational needs.

Qualifications:

  • Degree level in change management or similar discipline or relevant experience in a middle management role.

  • Experience and knowledge of managing change and transition requirements for both internal and client/customer in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to work on own initiative, taking decisions and actions in line with the aims of the organisation.
  • Able to demonstrate effective leadership and motivational skills.
  • Focus on customer service and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent time management skills.

Experience:

  • Experience of implementing new systems and processes on a large scale to a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Business Process Improvement experience.
  • Experience in effective problem solving, using analytical skills, creativity and logical thinking to reach a solution.
