Job Purpose
The Winterbourne site belongs to our Healthcare (HC) Business Unit. The HC Business Unit of Amcor Flexibles EMEA utilises sophisticated extrusion, coating, printing, laminating and specialist conversion technologies across a number of European sites, supplying a range of flexible packaging products to a prestigious, blue-chip, medical & pharma customer base.
The Operations Manager within our Winterbourne site is responsible for managing Production, Maintenance and Technical Services areas. Along with the rest of the Plant Leadership Team, the Operations Manager is critical in supporting the PGM in the effective plant management, ensuring a drive for excellence approach. The role is vital to the site's safety culture, compliance with company/plant policies & procedures and focus on continuous improvement and innovation. The Operations Manager is vital in aligning the plants objectives and customer requirements.
Principal Accountabilities
- Safety: Taking an active role in the plant’s safety programs and goals, spreading safety culture; Coordination of company functions in the application of the HSE System; Implementation of safety and health measures in the workplace; Development of safety procedures for the various company activities; Training and informing workers about Safety issues and responsibilities; Supports activities related to ISO 14001 and ISO 13485.
- Operations: Delivering budget in terms of production volumes, costs, Capex; Defining and managing organisational processes and improvements (roles, responsibilities, number of headcounts, shifts, activities), according to company policies and budget; Ensure timely execution of the production plan by optimising capacity to meet demand; Defining and verifying the correct KPIs to control processes performance; Responsible for a smooth warehousing operation to support the production planning and service levels; Support the optimisation of working capital through the reduction of inventory; Deliver continuous improvement plans for all aspects of the site operations; Promoting Amcor Values within the plant; Heightening own team performances, knowledge, and leadership; Maintaining high level of collaboration, motivation, and engagement; Creating value through best practices sharing with other plants and introduction of new technologies; Support development of all maintenance functions for machinery, assets and facilities following legal requirements and supplier instructions; Develop exceptional practices to maximise quality, output and minimise waste, downtime and manufacturing cost.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Proven senior Operations Management experience, gained in a fast paced, highly regulated manufacturing environment.
- Experience in packaging is an advantage but not a pre-requisite for the role.
- Experience of successfully managing significant change / transformation projects within a manufacturing environment.
- First-hand experience of Lean and continuous improvement methodologies e.g. Six Sigma, Kaizen etc.
- Degree in a Science, Technology or Engineering subject preferred.
