A committed, caring and flexible Personal Assistant is required to support a young lady to access her community for up to 16 hours a week. The hours are to be worked flexibly as required and agreed in advance. This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme and is intended to enable this family to manage their support independently. Training can be provided as required and where available. Must have own transport and a full, clean driving licence.
This post is for after school and weekends term time and days and weekends school holidays.
Main Duties:

Support and encourage her with gaining independence and enable her to interact socially within her community.

Support and encourage her with activities such as shopping, going for food and other activities of interest.

Supporting her in her love of horse riding, swimming and go carting.

Support and encourage her to try new activities and skills to improve her confidence and abilities.

Ensure her safety at all times during your working period.

Support with personal care when necessary.

Provide companionship at home and stimulation through play and interaction.

Provide appropriate care and actions if she has an epileptic fit.

Be prepared to learn basic sign language

Local knowledge of activities available would be advantageous to this post, as the hours worked could be off-site within the community.

If requested by the employer, two satisfactory references must be provided. This post is subject to a trial period of 1 month and a probationary period of up to 6 months.
Wages will be paid in arrears on a 4 weekly basis once a valid National Insurance (NI) number has been provided. You must be eligible to work in the UK and your employer will conduct document checks prior to commencement.
You will receive the appropriate annual leave entitlement as well as all other statutory entitlements, details of which will be set out in your contract of employment. You will also be issued with a Personal Assistants Handbook when your employment commences.
You will be expected to undertake any mandatory training identified as relevant to this post. The cost of mandatory training will be met through the direct payment. Failure to attend mandatory training may result in your employment offer being withdrawn.
