The service user is a gentleman who is wheelchair reliant and needing assistance with regaining confidence to go out in the community, The hours are split to allow a majority of social interaction as well as prompting him to attend to some personal care needs (assistance to shower)

He will need general support with preparing meals, and companionship and support within his own home and assist him to socialise in the community.

PA must be a dog lover as there is a small friendly dog in the home

Main tasks/activities

  • To provide a level of prompting and reminders that will support the service user to wash and shower independently and provide some companionship at home, assist with daily living tasks to ensure the client is comfortable.

  • accompany the employer on trips out to places of interest, garden centres, fishing, swimming, astrology and going to the art centre to see live groups, model making and restoration (motorbikes) etc.

  • To engage in conversation and encourage / suggest activities for socialisation

  • To always ensure the health and safety of the employer

  • To carry out any other reasonable requests that the service user may make from time to time., This vacancy is being advertised on behalf of an individual employer. This appointment is subject to an enhanced DBS check, which will incur no cost to the applicant. If requested by the employer, two satisfactory references must be provided. This post is subject to a trial period of 1 month and a probationary period of up to 6 months.

Wages will be paid in arrears on a 4 weekly basis once a valid National Insurance (NI) number has been provided. You must be eligible to work in the UK and your employer will conduct document checks prior to commencement.

You will receive the appropriate annual leave entitlement as well as all other statutory entitlements, details of which will be set out in your contract of employment. You will also be issued with a Personal Assistants Handbook when your employment commences.

You will be expected to undertake any mandatory training identified as relevant to this post. The cost of mandatory training will be met through the direct payment. Failure to attend mandatory training may result in your employment offer being withdrawn.
