Would you like to earn a salary whilst learning on the job and gaining a qualification? We have an exciting opportunity for a hands-on manufacturing Apprenticeship that presents a variety of future opportunities for successful applicants.

Wage: £14,526.20 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age National Minimum Wage rate for apprentices. An additional £900 annual night shift allowance included.

Training course: Lean manufacturing operative (level 2)

Hours: 4 On, 4 off nights 6.00pm- 6.00am, 1.5 hours unpaid breaks. Working hours to be confirmed. 36 hours 45 minutes a week.

Duration: 1 year 6 months

What you’ll do at work:

  • Comply with health and safety regulations and support activities to improve safer working.
  • Complete check sheets while monitoring machines and equipment data.
  • Identify and solve issues in the manufacturing environment within their responsibility, escalating them when necessary.
  • Adhere and develop Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs).
  • Work with your team and communicate to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Achieve OEE and waste targets.
  • Set the machine to production recipes.
  • Prepare raw materials for production.
  • Replenish packaging and films to the production line during the shift including the stacking of trays.
  • Set up batches of production as per the production plan.
  • Manual handling including the stacking of finished goods.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties associated with the role as required.

No under 18s due to night shift insurances.

Where you’ll work: VEETEE FOODS SIR THOMAS LONGLEY ROAD MEDWAY CITY ESTATE ROCHESTER, KENT ME2 4DU

Training: Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills. This Apprenticeship Standard is delivered within the workplace, where the Apprentice will complete a Level 2 Lean Manufacturing Operative competency and knowledge qualification. IPS will support and train the learner through the component aims with monthly monitoring and assessment visits to the workplace. This will prepare the learner for End Point Assessment that is required for this Apprenticeship. To complete this Apprenticeship, the learner must pass Level 1 English and maths (or have the appropriate transferable skills). They must also at least take the test for Level 2.

Desirable qualifications: GCSE or equivalent in: English, Maths and Science (grade 4/C and above). Let the company know about other relevant qualifications and industry experience you have. They can adjust the apprenticeship to reflect what you already know.
