Lead the full-site commissioning of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) EPC projects, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient system startup. Develop comprehensive commissioning plans, including procedures, schedules, manpower planning, and safety compliance for the entire site. Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams (electrical, mechanical, automation, SCADA, BMS, EMS, fire systems, HVAC, etc.) to conduct integrated system testing and validation. Oversee end-to-end commissioning activities including functional testing, performance verification, energization, troubleshooting, and fault response. Ensure all systems operate according to design specifications and meet regulatory and client requirements before handover. Interface with OEM vendors, EPC contractors, construction teams, and engineering design to resolve on-site technical issues. Compile and submit detailed commissioning documentation, including punch lists, test records, handover reports, and lessons learned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Energy Engineering, or related discipline.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in renewable energy or energy infrastructure, with at least 3 years focused specifically on BESS commissioning.
- Proven experience in full-site commissioning of large-scale energy projects (preferably 10MW+), including synchronization with the grid and utility compliance.
- Deep understanding of BESS architecture including PCS, BMS, EMS, HVAC, fire suppression, and control systems.
- Familiarity with applicable international and local standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE, NEC) for energy storage systems.
- Hands-on experience with system-level testing: HIL, FAT, SAT, functional testing, safety interlocks, and performance validation.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills; able to work under pressure in fast-paced project environments.
- Willing to travel and be stationed at project sites during commissioning phases.
